SLAQC is a dynamic community dedicated to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and camaraderie within the climbing community. Our mission is to create welcoming spaces for queer individuals to connect, climb, and thrive.
Role Description:
As one of (at least) two Indoor Event & Marketing Coordinators at SLAQC, you will play a vital role in organizing and promoting our weekly meetups at indoor climbing gyms. Your responsibilities will include:
Confirming proposed meetup dates with partner gyms approximately every two months, ensuring smooth coordination and scheduling.
Creating and posting engaging marketing materials on social media platforms (posts, stories) to promote our weekly meetups and engage our community.
Developing and managing a system for day pass mutual aid, facilitating the solicitation and distribution of passes to ensure accessibility for all participants.
Collaborating with the board to identify the need for volunteer hosts, and then recruiting, training, and deploying volunteers as needed to support meetup events.
Leveraging your event coordination experience to create inclusive and supportive spaces where all members feel welcome and valued.
Criteria:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Event coordination experience, with a demonstrated ability to create inclusive and supportive environments. You understand the importance of fostering a sense of belonging within community spaces.
Volunteer management skills, gained through prior experience either as a volunteer or as a manager. You have a perspective on how to effectively deploy and support volunteers to ensure successful events.
Proficiency in social media platforms such as Canva, Instagram, and Meta Business Suite. You can effectively utilize these tools to create engaging marketing materials and connect with our audience online.
A passion for giving back to the SLAQC community and a commitment to supporting our mission of offering weekly meetups that foster connection and camaraderie.
An interest in codifying best practices and assisting with onboarding for future individuals in this role, contributing to the sustainability and growth of our organization.
The ability to make a minimum one-year commitment to this role, ensuring continuity and stability in our event coordination efforts.
Compensation:
SLAQC is a small, grassroots non-profit that is primarily driven by volunteers. That said, we are working to find ways to reciprocate the time and effort we are asking for in this role. As such, the compensation package for this role includes:
